PCC's Vet Tech Board Prep Course Now Offered Online!

PORTLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE’S Veterinary Technology program will offer VT 150 Veterinary Technician National Examination Prep Course as an online Distance Learning Course beginning Spring term 2009. VT150 will also be offered as a classroom course in the Fall. Intended for veterinary assistants currently working in the field, both offerings are designed to help students prepare for the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE).
Since VT150 is a Distance Learning Course, students won’t have to travel to PCC to take it. Access to a modern computer system with internet access is needed.Students outside the Portland Metro area are welcome to participate. Except for the recommended textbook, all study materials, quizzes, discussions and assignments are available within the course on line.
Veterinary assistants trained on-the-job may become Certified Veterinary Technicians in Oregon by fulfilling the requirements specified by the state Veterinary Practice Act. One requirement is that the applicant CVT pass the VTNE which is administered by the Oregon Veterinary Medical Examining Board (OVMEB). Check the OVMEB website at http://www.oregon.gov/OVMEB/applications.shtml for requirements, deadlines and to register to take the VTNE.

Class begins March 30, 2009. Registration opens March 4, 2009. To register for the class, go to http://www.pcc.edu/admissions/ or call 503-977-8888. For more information call 503-614-7257.

Haven't Gotten Your CVT Renewal Info from the OVMEB yet? Don't Panic!
THe OVTAA received this e-mail on 12/17/08...

"Many of you have inquired about 2009 CVT renewals.
Due to several factors, we are late getting them out this year. I hope to have them mailed
early next week. The forms will explain your option of renewing online with a credit card.
Please be patient while we continue to work on your renewals, and please share this info
with your colleagues.

The Board has implemented late fees for CVTs, but due to the circumstances,
they won't apply if renewals are returned by January 31, 2009.

Again - thanks for your patience, and happy holidays."
