District 6 - Coos, Curry, Douglas, Jackson, Josephine counties

District 6 - Coos, Curry, Douglas, Jackson, Josephine counties

12/18/07 It is with great enthusiasm to announce the formation of District 6 representing southern Oregon. The district includes the following counties: Coos, Curry, Douglas, Jackson, and Josephine.

The inaugural meeting took place in October and produced lots of roundtable discussion with wonderful ideas. The following outline lists the purpose for technicians and assistants.
  • Networking with other paraprofessionals, veterinarians, company reps
  • Continuing education for support staff
  • Improve the pet's health/quality of life
  • Instill confidence in the public through education
  • Active advocates for all pets

Due to the large traveling area of the district it was decided to rotate meetings in hopes more people would be able to attend. Currently the monthly meetings will be on a rotation schedule for 2008. January's meeting will be held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7pm. Location is 1120 E. 11th Street, Medford. (Contact Deeanne and please RSVP by January 4th) February's meeting will be on the 2nd Saturday of the month at noon. March's meeting will be on Tuesday; April's meeting will be on Saturday and so forth. We need volunteers to help with the Saturday meeting. Please take a moment and check your schedule for availability to help run the meeting and ideas for meeting location are gladly welcomed. Without help, Saturday meetings will be sporadic. Those interested can reply to deeannemcgaugh@cs.com. We are looking into a meeting room through Jackson County at little or no cost. More details to follow within the next few months. Spread the word! The OVTAA web-site will have current information about meeting times, locations, and upcoming events. This will help keep mailing costs down. Flyers will be mailed for the January and February meetings, after that, please visit the web-site for up-to-date information. The web-site also has great resources for technicians and assistants. We look forward to an exciting year filled with opportunities to get to know and support each other. Your ideas and support will be appreciated along this new journey.
